Sara Hildreth of Fiction Matters (on Instagram) is a former high school English teacher, so I thought she'd be the perfect person to break down what I feel like is the most confusing book of 2025 so far. If you don’t follow Sara on Substack already, she writes EXCELLENT thoughtful commentary on the reading life.
Sara absolutely helped me appreciate Audition more than I initially did (even though I can't say I enjoyed it) and she did have some possible interpretations of what Katie Kitamura was trying to do with this story.
